The Default Parent
Everything comes from me...
I have been talking this week about the struggles of parenting.
I love being a Mum. My son is the love of my life.
But that doesn’t mean I don’t struggle.
The reality of being a parent is the impossible balancing of priorities and feeling stretched in so many different directions.
I am and always have been the “default parent”.
I was when I was married and am even more so now as a single mum.
Yes, I’m the default parent, all the planning comes from me. I’m responsible for everything, but do you know how exhausting it can be? Keeping the calendar updated, find something for our tea. Ensure the laundry’s flowing, how much more stuff can there be? The house is always messy, I don’t have time to clean. Our child is running wild. What does it all mean? It means I’m doing everything I can, to keep us all together. Everyone knows that they’re loved, and it won’t last forever.
How Does This Make You Feel?
Does this resonate with you? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
